Life is like a taxi.

The tragedy of life
is not that it ends so soon,
but that we wait so long to begin it.
                                    - W. M. Lewis

How much would you pay for a ride?

Here is a picture of Kym and her father going home after the bloodwork was done. From the hospital heading home, she fell asleep at her papa’s arms.

She knows it already. When she sees a person in white uniform, she frowns and turns away. It is just so sad to see her crying and you do nothing but resist her, while a person sticks a needle under her skin.

This was her first check-up in Davao Doctor’s Hospital with her new pediatric endo doctor. All went fine; the blood results except for the bone aging scan. We found out that Kym’s bones were inappropriate for her age. Her little bones were just of 14 months old instead of a 36 months old child.

I am very blessed with my daughter’s life. Even though she grows slowly physically, her mental development is at normal age.

And I am sure that he who began a good work in you will complete it.  - Philippians 1:6

Life is not like wearing make up.

I wish life was like makeup, when u mess it up, wipe it off and start again.

We all make mistakes.
As humans as we are, we are not perfect.

Some mistakes in life just can’t be erased.

Do you wake up each morning to face another day of dragging your guilt around? You don’t have to. The Lord is waiting to take that load from you and cast it as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103: 12). All you must do is hand over your burden and receive His forgiveness.

Life is like a dream.

Papa, Kym and Uncle Jasper sleeping soundly

There’s good times and there’s nightmares.
Life will only last so long, but your dreams will go on forever.
Life is a journey, travel it well.

It is just very delightful to watch a child sleeping still.

Before the age of 3, she repeatedly begins to say the word No. I have learned that toddlers even say “No” even when they are asleep. She’s maybe dreaming about something she doesn’t want in her dream. It was one of the moments you get amused on just watching your daughter.

Life is like riding a bicycle.

– in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving – Albert Einstein

Kym always get thrilled if she sees a bike. We should find the smallest bicycle for her in the mall. But we can’t find a classy one that suits her. She can’t reach the pedals yet and I think she does not have the strength yet to cycle one. I am not belittling her. I am sure that it will end up – instead of pedaling the bike to pushing the bike all around the grassy yard. Poor lolo and lola. =p

Is it really time to buy her one? Most kids get excited when they see what they want, anyway.

Life is like an escalator.

You see, it carries you on regardless.
And you might as well enjoy the view
and seize every opportunity while you're passing.
Otherwise, it'll be too late.
- Lara Lington; Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella.

Kym: Mama, ride stairs. Papa, ride stairs!

And she goes overjoyed one the escalator joyride.

Kids have true happiness!!! Why won’t we be like them? Wherever life would take us, we should not erase the child we have in us.

Life is like a ride.

"Life is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, around and around, it has thrills and chills, and it's very brightly colored, and it's very loud, and it's fun for a while. Many people have been on the ride a long time, and they begin to wonder, "Hey, is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us and say, "Hey, don't worry; don't be afraid, ever. Because this is just a ride.... But it doesn't matter, because it's just a ride. And we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings of money. Just a simple choice, right now, between FEAR and LOVE."
- - Bill Hicks (16 December 1961 – 26 February 1994)

Kym’s first time to ride the merry-go-round… At first she was afraid. So Papa was there to hold her up and to be with her all the way until the carousel stops… So she had lots of fun and wanted more.

And she rode other rides too....

Each day is a little life.

Each day is a little life. –Schopenhauer

Hold on into it like a child looking for his/her pacifier

PACIFIER

I just can’t settle down
I am not happy, I am in a frown
I don’t know how to fall asleep
Even when I am tired from a weep

I am all fussy and sad
If it will not show up then I’ll be mad
Truly mom forgot my pacifier
Guess I have to whine a little harder

I remember when you are here
I wouldn’t even shed a tear
Where are you little buddy?
I need you and not my mommy?

I don’t want to lose a friend anymore
I believe my eyes are all sore
So I hold on to you
I know, I miss you too.

Life is like drawing.

“Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.” - John W. Gardner

Kids love art.

Oh, I mean messing around. I was so proud of her when she already knew how to draw a circle, a heart and a star! I think, I have a young artist here with me in our home.

Life is a great big canvas.

...and you should

                     throw all the

paint on it you can.

                             -- Danny Kaye

PAINT ME
-Kaye TM

A blank canvas in the corner it lies
Ready to be painted, it just needs the master’s eyes
So delicately paint my heart
With edges unperfected but with original art

The bristles of the paintbrush
Glide peacefully in the canvas
All colors like Res and Green
And yellow like an auroral scene

I saw a picture painted by the sun
Without instructions of art in His hands
Designed by our Inventor
From the heavens signed by our Creator

Life is like a balloon.

You start out small or flat.

Then someone picks you up and makes you feel floaty, happy, high and full.

But as time goes by, you slowly deflate and fall back to Earth.

Every child gets fascinated with balloons. It is very popular in parties, especially in a child’s birthday party. The party just feels alive and radiant! They are colorful just perfect for a happy and joyful event.

Life is cooking without a recipe book.

It’s easy to cook when there is a recipe book to follow. It would cut out all the hard work. But life isn’t that easy. We have to go through rough and tough times enable to learn and live life. The good part is: life is simple. We just need to master perseverance, as Marie Curie quoted. And above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.

Life is like a box of crayons.

you just never know what you’re gonna create.

Kym’s first box of crayons.

I gave it to her when she was just 2 years old. So that she will know what crayons are and what they are for. But she made use of it when she was already 3 years old. At this time, she already knows all the basic colors. She can scribble it on paper, but she doesn’t still know how to perfectly color a picture in a coloring book yet. And I am still teaching her how to. We would never know that Kym would master the coloring technique and would become an artist when she grows up! =p

Life is like a farm.

Life is like a farm, one wrong step and you’re in deep sh*t.
Unsourced, Philosophical:
otherTodd Lynch

Living in a farm isn’t as easy as you think but it is living life simple. As caretakers, you need to take care of the animals and the environment keeping everything in order.

Here, she learned many things like animal names, sounds and appearances as well as plants and anything you see outside the green world .

Life is like a dance.

Sometimes the steps are easy to learn; sometimes they're difficult. Sometimes, the movement is fast and furious but at times it can be slow, deliberate and graceful. Both take a lot of time, practice and patience. However, if you stick with it and not give up, the end result can be very rewarding.

Check out Kym dance moves. Not bad for a newbie ei, what do you think?

Life is like a song.

Listen to your life. All moments are key moments.
                                                                       - Frederick Buechner

Singing is one of Kym’s favorite past time. She sings beautifully for a newbie. I think she did better than me when I was young like her.

Life is like a sheep.

Outside: looks good with its sweater made of wool...

Inside : stack with problems, full of words coming from the heart that it can't express.

Last but not the least, it's full of judgement.

Psalm 23

A psalm of David.
1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
 3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
   for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk
   through the darkest valley
I will fear no evil,
   for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
   they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
   my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
   forever.

Last April 2009, after Kym’s check-up, we rode the Cebuferry boat back to Cagayan de Oro. It’s time for Kym’s afternoon sleep. We were so tired that my husband, Kym and I slept. Kym was with my husband’s bunk after he fed her with a bottle of milk. As he woke up, Kym was gone! He woke me up and 3 minutes later, Kym was carried by a stranger – barefooted and was smiling. He returned her to us and we we’re so thankful that he did watch over our daughter while she was wandering around the big ship. My husband and I looked at each other and saw blank faces.

Imagine that! If something happened to Kym, I’ll never forgive myself. We were so lucky to buy a ticket in the tourist spot that was an air-conditioned closed area of the ship. It would be drastic if we we’re in an open area with a child on board.

A child wanders like a sheep and the moment she realizes, she is lost!

We also get lost in our lives sometimes… But the greatest thing is that, we have a Shepherd looking for us every time we’re off –track.
